First, open the Google app on your phone and click on ‘More’ (three horizontal dots) under the bottom right.

Go to Settings, click Notifications and under ‘Other’ turn off the categories from which you do not wish to get notifications.

That’s it. You will not get push notification from categories you turned off, such as stock, travel, jobs, etc.

How to disable notification from specific category?

Swipe down the notification shade, swipe left the notification halfway, and then click the gear icon.

You will see the category of that notification. Now, go to the Notifications settings in Google app and turn off the notification from that category.

Alternatively, turn off ‘Topics of interest’ from within the notifications shade to disable the alert.

How to Stop Google News app notifications?

If the notifications are coming from the Google News app, then the steps to disable them are different. Here is how it is.

Open the Google News app and click on your profile icon at the top right. Scroll down, click Settings and then select Notifications. Set the intensity to Low if you want to receive fewer notifications.

If you want to disable all notification from the app, turn off the option for ‘Get notifications’.
