A couple of months back Google introduced a whole new “Discover” page (former Google feed) with dark theme, but the dark mode was available on Google Pixel devices only. There is no way to enable Dark mode for the Google Discover page on non-Pixel phones until recently. Happily, now it is now possible with latest Nova Launcher version 6.1.

Nova Launcher version 6.1 (currently beta) enables Dark Mode in the Google Discover page on non-Pixel phones run on Android Oreo and above. Dark mode is ideal for battery life and it easy on the eyes at night. Many users utilize “Discover” page for important news article and other information as a daily basis, so the dark theme will bring distraction free experience to users on the device and extend battery life.

To change Google Discover page’s white theme to dark theme on an Android device, you need to install beta version of Nova Launcher 6.1. In addition, it requires Nova Google companion app (to enable Google Feed) and Oreo or above.

Dark theme for Discover page is not yet available on the Nova launcher stable version. Teslacoil will roll out the feature in the stable channel once the beta testing completes.

Enable Dark Mode in the Google Discover Page on Android

1. Install Nova Launcher beta version from Play Store

2. Install Nova Google companion APK by downloading it from here

3. Currently, there are three available “Theme” options in settings menu.

4. Go to Settings > Integrations > Google Discover > Theme

5. There are three options: Light, Dark, and Follow Night mode.

6. Select Dark option and you are done.

Dark theme is the new trend on Android smartphones. It brings distraction free experience to users on the device as well as reduces battery consumption on devices with AMOLED displays.

Recently, Google starts incorporating the dark theme for many of its apps, such as Phone App, Messages, YouTube, and Gborad and more.
