Huawei Honor 5X has received the official LineageOS 15.1 support, which means you can now enjoy Android 8.1 Oreo with stock features. The LineageOS development team has released LineageOS 15.1 nightly build for Honor 5X (kiwi) with all the features of Oreo 8.1 alongside LineageOS own features. 

Honor 5X owners who love stock Android UI and excited to get Android 8.1 Oreo, here is how to install official LineageOS 15.1 ROM on it. Keep in mind that the present status of LOS 15.1 is nightly, which means the ROM is unstable. However, the LineageOS ‘Nightly’ updates are reasonably stable with most features working.

– Android version: Android 8.1 Oreo (LOS 15.1)

Below is the general installation guide for LineageOS 15.1 on your Honor 5X (kiwi). Before you start, make sure you have a back up of stock system image to flash back to stock. Make a system backup (Nandroid) of your device from TWRP recovery before proceeding.

– Unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed [guide]

How to Install LinegaeOS 15.1 on Huawei Honor 5X

1. Transfer the downloaded LOS 15.1 zip and Gapps zip files to your phone’s SD card (do not unzip the file)

2. Boot your Honor 5X to TWRP recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up & Power buttons together after switching off the phone.

3. In TWRP, Wipe Data / Factory Reset and Wipe dalvik-cache

4. Now, select ‘Install’, choose LOS 15.1 ROM zip file and swipe to flash

5. Select Gapps zip file and Swipe right to flash

6. Once done, reboot your phone. It will take to around 10 minutes for the first boot.
