HTC U11 is the recent flagship from HTC. However, if you want development on this device, there is good news for you. HTC U11 has official TWRP recovery support. TeamWin has released TWRP 3.1.1-0 for the device, which you can download and install right now. To be able to install TWRP recovery, you need unlocked bootloader on HTC U11, which you can do using HTC’s official bootloader unlocking tool.

For your information, HTC handsets are developer friendly, and no exemption for HTC U11. HTC officially support bootloader unlock, so you can easily install custom recovery like TWRP, flash custom ROMs, custom kernels and other files, and customize the device to your liking.

Note that unlocking the bootloader will void your device’s warranty as well as reset your device to factory state. Back up important files before unlocking the bootloader.

Besides, installing custom ROMs, custom kernels and other system files, TWRP recovery offers several other functions too. For example, you can make complete backup of your device (Nandroid backup), restore the backup, wipe various partitions, and more.

How to install TWRP recovery on HTC U11

1. First, go to HTC website here. Follow the instruction to unlock your device bootloader.

2. Download HTC U11 TWRP 3.1.1-0 recovery image for America [HERE] and for Europe [HERE]

3. After unlocking the bootloader, flash the recovery image via Fastboot by issuing the command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

Note that, Windows users need to install fastboot driver for HTC U11 on their PC. Also, you should enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlock options on the phone in Developer Options menu. (Source – TeamWin)
