Google is preparing to add TikTok like feature called Shorts to the YouTube app. Available in India and few other countries as a beta feature within the YouTube app, you can use Shorts to record videos up to 20 seconds long, enhance the footage with music, and upload/share on YouTube. Here’s how to create Shorts on the YouTube app.
Google starts a broader rollout of YouTube Shorts. If you haven’t seen the feature yet on your YouTube app, update the app to the latest version. Visiting the Shorts page lets you scroll through other users’ videos, and many of the features you would expect from a social platform are available, including likes, dislikes, and comments.
How to Create Shorts on the YouTube app
- Update YouTube app to latest version and then launch the app on your phone.
- Tap on Plus icon (+) at the bottom center of the screen and tap on Create Short option.
- Here, you can choose record speed, count-down timer up to 20 seconds and add your music.
- Once you recorded your video, you can upload/share it to your channel.
So, this is how you can create Shorts on the YouTube app and share it with your audience. The biggest stand-out feature of YouTube Shorts is its integration with the YouTube ecosystem. However, you can’t directly upload songs or remix other users’ videos as you can with TikTok.
