Right on schedule, the 4th Android Q Beta has arrived and the system images are live for Google Pixel phones and partner OEMs. As with the past few releases, there aren’t many user-facing features in Android Q Beta 4. This is the last developer preview update before the release candidate builds so it comes packed with finalized APIs (API level 29), official API 29 SDK, and updated build tools for Android Studio allowing app developers to test their current apps for compatibility with Android Q.

Android Q Beta 4 system images are live for all Google Pixel phones – Pixel, the Pixel XL, the Pixel 2, the Pixel 2 XL, the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL and the recently launched Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Users will receive the update via OTA or sideload by downloading the system images. It will also available on other 15 devices from partner OEMs, such as Asus, Essential, Nokia, Huawei, LG, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sony, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi.

The most important changes in Android Q:

The prime importance of Android Q is on privacy and security, but it also comes with plenty of innovative features and tweaks. System-wide dark theme, Live Caption, Focus Mode, Boot-less security updates, Easy privacy controls, Built-in parental controls called Family Link, and Expanded gestures are some of the most important changes of Android Q.

The Live Caption creates automatic real-time captions for anything you watch on the phone. The Focus Mode lets you quickly turn off distracting apps. Boot-less security updates is another important change in Android Q. Most important updates (critical and security update) are done in the background. Android Q brings a dedicated Privacy tab to let users access their privacy settings with one tap.

Along with Google Pixel phones, the following phones will also get the early build of Android 10 (Android Q Beta 4) from respective OEMs shortly. These includes, Xiaomi Mi 9, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, Asus ZenFone 5Z, Essential Phone, Nokia 8.1, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, LG G8 ThinQ, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T, OPPO Reno, Realme 3 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ3, Redmi K20 Pro, Tecno Spark 3 Pro, Vivo X27, Vivo NEX S, and Vivo NEX A.
