Xiaomi has starting to roll out MIUI 8.5.4.0 Global Stable ROM for Redmi Note 4/4x. The update brings Android 7.0 Nougat, July 2017 security patches, a handful of new features and general bug fixes to Redmi Note 4. The update (MIUI 8.5.4.0 NCFMIED) is rolling out via OTA and all users will get the update notification in a week or more. Users can also download and install the MIUI 8.5.4.0 Global Stable ROM on Redmi Note 4/4x manually.

Besides Android 7.0 Nougat native features, MIUI 8.5.4.0 Global Stable ROM brings separate app lock for Dual apps, hides notification content on the lock screen, support exFAT file system for SD card, offers improved Google keyboard, more customizable quick settings menu, and more. The update also includes general bug fixes and several optimizations.

Note that, Redmi Note 4/4x will get the more refined MIUI 9 Beta 7.8 update soon. It is scheduled for August 11. Check this guide for download and installation instruction.

MIUI 8.5.4.0 Global Stable ROM update weighs around 1.3GB and currently rolling out in few countries. However, all Redmi Note 4/4X will get the OTA (over the air) update within a week or more.

How to download and install MIUI 8.5.4.0 Global Stable ROM on Redmi 4.4X

1. MIUI 8.5.4.0 Global Stable recovery ROM zip files from here.

2. Rename the ROM to update.zip and save it on your phone.

3. Turn off your phone and then press the Volume + button along with the power button to boot into Mi Recovery.

4. Navigate to update.zip file (use Vol up/down button and select it using power button).

5. Confirm the installation by selecting the Yes button. Once it is installed then selects the back button and then reboot.

  6. Sir, iam having the same problem as himanshu, the battery issue.. My processor is snapdragon625. The problem arises after the update.. Should i role back?

First use comma when commenting. 2nd, maybe your note 4 is mtk helio version, which is not a good processor for maintain battery life compared to snapdragon. 3rd, you use it until evening or 7 hours, and you still got 30% battery? That’s still alot dude, some phones wont even get to 5 hours on time screen.

  11. Installing fastboot ROM requires unlocked bootloader, which is not recommended. If you are facing any issue with the mentioned build we recommend waiting for the next update.

  12. By flashing fastboot ROM, will the device go to older version or the default version? If version 8.5.4 is not stable in the phone, will the coming updates be stable? Please reply.

  16. You can revert back to older version by flashing Fastboot ROM for your device, but it requires some expertise.

    1. No sound coming from the handset while on a call. Speaker mode works fine but handset not working

    2. WhatsApp notifications showing 2 times.

When I bought redmi Note 4 am very much excited about the phone but after using two weeks and this phone is not working as well as I am thinking I mean the RAM space more and sometimes app don’t work Facebook WhatsApp on YouTube and games stopped working suddenly and there is a notification that the app is not responding please wait or okay option is there and battery drainage is so fast and overall the performance is slow as compared to previous version and the heating problem is very bad my mobile get heat up very fast it is irritating is redmi Note 4 has 4000 MH battery it is not working so good in battery I charge my battery at morning hundred percent and coming to the evening 6 or 7 hours it drains to 30% there is many interesting and useful features in this phone but overall performance is very low please help me or give some update I have done many things about the phone I have stopped background apps change settings to maintain battery turn off notifications and background activities but nothing will happen please help me so that the phone will work better and when will the next update come 9.0 as you mentioned above please help me I am very much disappointed about this song please

  23. In the Upgrade release note it was written
    Lockscreen- NEW – Hide notification content on lock screen. I can not see any such option after the upgrade.

    Moreover Fingerprint sensor is not working properly as earlier.
    Whatsapp notification is being displayed 2 times. kindly give the hotfix for these issues.

  40. Usually, firmware update enhances device performance. We have updated to 8.5, but no major issues found.
    To downgrade to Marshmallow, you will need to unlock the bootloader (it will void your device’s warranty) and flash the fastboot ROM (MIUI 8.2) using Mi flash tool. Check our previous guides.

  54. Yes, it is for Indian Redmi Note 4 with Snapdragon processor. Just download it and flash it via Updator app (find it under Tool box)
