Huawei Mate 10 was launched in November, 2017 with EMUI 8.0 (Android 8.0 Oreo) on board. Since then the company released a series of software update for the device with new features, performance enhancements, security updates and bug fixes. Recently, all variants of Mate 10 (ALP-L09, ALP-L29 and ALP-AL00) were updated with March 2018 security patches.
Huawei now starts rolling out a software update with Face Unlock to Mate 10. The B128-SP2 (8.0.0.128) OTA update enables this feature to the device, but currently available to ALP-AL00 Chinese variant only. Huawei soon may release similar update to Global variant Mate 10, such as ALP-L09 (single SIM) and ALP-L29 (Dual SIM) with Face Unlock.
How to Enable Face Unlock on Huawei Mate 10?
Once enabled the feature, it will unlock the device when the owner’s face is recognized. You can enable the face unlock by going to Phone Settings > Security & Privacy > Face unlock.
The B128-SP2 update also adds following features to the device:
– Brings a feature to wake up phone each time you pick it up.
– Simplifies certain shortcuts in the Settings menu. For example, removes settings drawer, Touch-disable mode is enabled by default.
– Optimizes certain display names in the Settings menu.
– Adjusts the position and order of certain elements in the Settings menu. For example, Color temperature has been put under Color mode.
