Xiaomi officially allows unlocking the bootloader on Redmi Note 6 Pro. Unlocked bootloader is a pre-requisite for installing MIUI fastboot ROM. It is also necessary for installing custom recovery like TWRP and enabling root access on the device. Here is a simple method to unlock the bootloader on Redmi Note 6 Pro. This is the proper method and easy to follow.

Redmi Note 6 Pro is the latest smartphone by Xiaomi. It features company’s first AI-powered quad-camera with AI portrait 2.0. If you own this device and want to install MIUI fastboot ROM, should unlock the bootloader. For example, the company recently invited beta testing MIUI 10 on Redmi Note 6 Pro. To install the beta fastboot ROM should have unlocked Bootloader.

Bootloader is a security feature of Android phone. Unlocking the bootloader will normally carry out a factory reset and void your device warranty. However, the best thing about Xiaomi is that  unlocking bootloader on their device will not void the warranty.

How to Unlock Bootloader on Redmi Note 6 Pro

1. First, enable OEM Unlocking and USB Dubugging on your phone. To do so go to Settings > About phone and tap on the MIUI version several times to enable Developer Options. Now, go to Settings > Additional Settings > Developer options > enable OEM Unlocking, USB Debugging.

2. Assume that you have created Mi account for Mi cloud on your phone. Go to Mi cloud on your phone and switch on Find Device option.

3. Now, on your PC, go to i.mi.com and login with your Mi account. Select Find Device and check if details of your phone and location are correct.

4. Now, go to Mi Unlock page [HERE] and download the MI Unlock Tool to your PC.

5. Turn OFF the phone and turn it ON by pressing Volume Down + Power buttons.

6. Connect your phone to the PC with USB cable.

7. Now run the Mi Unlock Tool and Login with your Mi cloud ID and start the unlock process.
