Last year I featured here about a virtual personal assistant for Android called Speaktoit Assistant, which gives iPhone’s Siri like feature on Android now available on iOS devices also. As Siri is now only offered to iPhone 4S owners and if you own an iPhone 3GS or other iOS devices (which can’t get Siri) and like Siri like feature on your older (or new) iOS device, Speaktoit would be the best alternative.

If you aren’t familiar with Siri, the biggest benefit that iPhone 4S brings to us, is a virtual personal buddy that uses voice recognition and spoken responses to let you search, make calls, and manage your calendar hands-free.

Speakoit-for-iOS

Speaktoit Assistant is a virtual buddy for iPhone or iPod that uses natural language technology to answer questions, find information, and connect you with various web services, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Evernote, and many others.

The Assistant works with your device to get maps, search for news and images, look up weather reports, convert currency and measurements, send email, and much more.

Of course, on your iOS device, you can hold the Home button down for a few seconds to access Voice Control, but I think it doesn’t offer anything near Speaktoit Assistant functionality.

Note:

Speaktoit Assistant is not a free app. It costs you $1.99 to purchase on the App Store, but will be FREE to the first 100,000 people on Valentine’s Day download. However, it’s still free on Android.
