After being rolled out the January 2018 security update for midrange devices like Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A3 (2017), etc., Samsung now starts rolling out the new software update for its flagship Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925I) with January 2018 security patches. The OTA update is now available in India with firmware build G925IDVS3FRA1. The update for other regions is imminent. If you have issue updating this version via OTA, then you can install the update manually.
Though the update does not include any new major features, all users are recommended to update their Galaxy S6 Edge to this new software version to get best from it. This update includes fixes for six critical vulnerabilities in the Android OS itself and fixes for 13 vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items in Samsung’s TouchWiz.
The new update (G925IDVS3FRA1) is still based on Android 7.0 Nougat and if you did not see the new software update on your phone for some reason, check for OTA update manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
