Asus releases Android 9 Pie AOSP beta for ZenFone 4 Selfie. It is available on both ZB553KL and ZD553KL variants. The update carries the build number 16.0200.1903.16 and available for download now. The AOSP version (not the ZenUI version) of Android 9 Pie brings near stock experience to users. A similar update is also available on ZenFone 4 Max.

Asus already upgraded many of its smartphones to latest Android 9 Pie and starts Android Q (Android 10) beta testing on ZenFone 5z. We expect that ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Max will get the stable Android Pie update shortly, while early adopters can install the Android 9 Pie AOSP beta for ZenFone 4 Selfie (ZB553KL/ ZD553KL) and Max (ZC554KL).

Asus Zenfone 4

Android 9 Pie AOSP beta will bring all the new features of Android 9 Pie to ZenFone 4 Selfie. Adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, new navigation gestures, dark theme, digital wellbeing, new notification system, and latest security patches, are some of the important changes of this update.

Keep in mind that this is the Android 9 (Pie) AOSP Beta version and not the ZenUI. The user experience will be different from the Android 8.0 Oreo. In addition, this version will not support OTA update.

Interested users can install the AOSP beta Pie firmware on their device by downloading the OTA file from below. Note that it will remove all personal data from the device, so please remember to back up your data first.
