Huawei and its sub-brand Honor are releasing Android 8.0 Oreo update for many of their previous years’ smartphones like Honor 6X, but in most cases, these updates are for Chinese market only. However, Honor 6X (BLN-L22C675) in India starts getting the Oreo (EMUI 8.0) OTA update, but your device should be on stock recovery and Android Nougat to install the OTA.

If Honor 6X’s bootloader is unlocked and replaced its stock recovery with TWRP, then you will not be able to install the Oreo OTA update, but still you can install the official Android 8.0 Oreo update (EMUI 8.0) on it with this simple guide. However, your device should be running on Nougat (EMUI 5.x.x).

How to Install Oreo Update on Honor 6X via TWRP

Installing Oreo update (EMUI 8.0) on Honor 6X BLN-L22C675 (India) manually is not too complicated. All you need bootloader unlock and TWRP on the device.

Note: It seems that Huawei stopped bootloader unlock service, so if you have not already unlocked the bootloader, you will have to find an alternative method to do it.

Also, other region Honor 6X can also install the update (it is multi-language), but first you need to rebrand the device for Indian region. The procedure is also simple. Follow this guide for details.

If everything are ready, follow this simple guide (thanks to XDA user shashank1320) to know how to flash official Oreo update on your Honor 6X.

Note: Inexperienced users should not proceed with these steps, as it may brick your device. We recommended waiting for the OTA update. Meanwhile check for the update manually by going to Settings > About phone > System update.
