Official Resurrection Remix 7.0 based on Android 9 Pie has been available for many devices now. The latest build RR-P-v7.0.0 offers several personalization options and new features to users alongside Pie stock features. Here is how to flash Android 9 Pie (official Resurrection Remix 7.0) on Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is one of the assured devices to update to official Android 9 Pie. It is expected that Asus will roll out ZenUI 5.0 based Android 9 Pie for Zenfone Max Pro M1 (X00TD) next month (February). Custom ROM fans can install official Resurrection Remix 7.0 on the device, which is based on Android 9 Pie.

To install a custom ROM on Zenfone Max Pro M1 its bootloader must be unlocked and latest version of TWRP installed. Since the official TWRP is not released for the device (X00TD), you may go to this XDA thread to install unofficial TWRP.

Installation Instruction for Resurrection Remix 7.0 on Zenfone Max Pro M1

1. Download latest Resurrection Remix 7.0 build for your device from here.

2. Download Android 9 Pie compatible Gapps zip (arm 64) from here. (optional).

3. Save both zip files inside the ADB folder. (Assuming that you have ADB and Fastboot driver setup on your PC)

4. Switch off the phone, hold Volume Down + Power buttons. When you see Asus logo appears on the screen, release buttons.

5. In TWRP, select Backup to create a backup of all partitions. Save the file to external SDcard.

6. Go back to return to main Menu > Wipe >Format Data. This will remove encryption and will delete all files stored on the internal storage.

7. Now, tap Advanced Wipe, select the Cache and System partitions to wipe and then Swipe to Wipe.

8. Now returned to main TWRP menu, tap “Advanced” and then “ADB Sideload.” Swipe the bar at the bottom to initiate the sideload command on the recovery menu side.

8. On your computer, open a command window and execute the below:

adb sideload filename.zip

[Replace filename.zip to original file name]

9. Install Gapps packages using the same method.

The whole process will take a few minutes, so sit back and hang out while it does its thing. Once it finishes updating, you can reboot your phone.
