Redmi Note 4 was one of the most popular handset from Xiaomi, which recently got company’s newest MIUI 10 Beta update. However, the update for Redmi Note 4 (Mido) is still based on Android Nougat and there is no possibility to get official Android Oreo, as well as the latest Android 9.0 Pie update on the phone.
The good news is that Redmi Note 4 (Mido) just received a stable Android 9.0 Pie port. If you are excited to get the Pie update, then you can download and install the AOSP 9.0 port on the device. Recently, Nexus 5X received AOSP 9.0 custom port, but it was an alpha version with many things do not work well.
According to the developer of this ROM “Abhishek987”, the Android 9.0 Pie port for Redmi Note 4 is stable with everything working. Boots, RIL (Calls, SMS, Data), Fingerprint, IR Blaster, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera, Camcorder, Video Playback, Audio, Sensors, Flash, LED, GPS, Volte, etc. are working as expected.
If you are excited to taste some features of the Pie, then you can download and install the AOSP ROM via TWRP. Installation is simple, but requires a clean flash. Back up all important data before flashing the custom ROM.
