As you may know, Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo Beta for Mi A1 users who applied for Oreo Beta testing. Mi A1 Android 8.0 Oreo Beta comes with December 2017 patches and the OTA update weighs around 1GB. Oreo brings various new features like Auto-fill, Picture in Picture (PIP), UI changes, better battery life, quick boot, Background limits, Adaptive icons and much more. If everything went fine, all users will get the stable Oreo update soon.

Xiaomi-Mi-A1

Thanks to XDA member ‘rameshurfrnd1’, the developer shared TWRP backup of Mi A1 Android Oreo Beta. Tech-savvy users can restore this backup on their device and experience new features. The process is risky, so inexperienced users should not try it.

There is no need to say that your Mi A1 should have latest version TWRP recovery installed. If not, follow this guide.

Note: Backup all important data before proceeding. To go back to stock Android 7.1.2 Nougat on your MiA1, you should download and install the fastboot ROM.

Install Android 8.0 Oreo Beta on Xiaomi Mi A1 Manually

1. Download MI A1 Oreo beta TWRP backup from here to your phone and unzip the file.

2. Copy and paste the extracted folder at TWRP/BACKUPS/df0bdeb70404/[UNOFFICIAL] AOSP OREO – tissot

3. Now, boot your phone into TWRP. In recovery menu, select Wipe and wipe Data, System, Caches, and Davlik Caches.

4. Return to TWRP menu and select ‘Restore’ and restore [UNOFFICIAL] AOSP OREO – tissot.

5. Finally, reboot your phone and enjoy. (Source – XDA)
