The LineageOS team continues to expand its latest Android 9 Pie based LineageOS 16 support list. I think Xiaomi’s smartphones are in the top list with ten phones, which includes devices launched in 2016, like Mi 5. Currently, following ten Xiaomi Smartphones gets Android 9 Pie with LineageOS 16.
Thanks to LineageOS 16, the custom ROM brings the latest version of Android 9 Pie alongside stock UI and latest security patches to many old and new smartphones. The main advantage of LineageOS 16 is that it updates many old devices to the latest Android 9.0 Pie and features full customization, system-wide dark theme, better security and more.

How to Install LineageOS 16
If your device is currently on an official LineageOS 15.1 build, you do NOT need to wipe your device. If you are installing from an unofficial build, you MUST wipe data from recovery before installing.
After downloading the latest version of LineageOS build for your Xiaomi phone, follow this guide.
Since the ROM does not include Google apps and services, you need to flash Open Gapps package after flashing the ROM. Download Open Gapps package from here.
