Big news for OnePlus 6 owners! First open beta of Android 9 Pie is now available for the device. Anyone can download and install the update manually and experience all the new goodies of Pie update. Recently, OnePlus invited OnePlus 6 owners for testing Android 9 Pie based OxygenOS as closed beta. The public beta update is now live for the device. The good news is that OnePlus is always been quick with rolling out latest update for their flagship device. You can expect stable Android 9 Pie update on OnePlus 6 eventually.

Download and install Android 9 Pie open beta on OnePlus-6

Besides the Android 9 Pie features like gesture navigation, brand new UI, and other new features, OnePlus included its own customization features to the Pie build. Accent color customization, new ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode with adjustable settings, new Gaming Mode 3.0, etc are few examples.

Android 9 Pie open beta 1 is available for OnePlus 6 running stable OxygenOS (Android 8.1 Oreo) and Android P developer preview alike. Below is the download link and installation guide.

How to Install Android 9 Pie Open Beta on OnePlus 6

#For Devices Running Stable OxygenOS (Android 8.1 Oreo)

1. Download the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 ROM zip file from here and transfer it your phone’s storage.

2. Open the ‘Settings’ app, then go to ‘System updates’, and then tap on the top right corner icon.

3. In the menu, tap on Local upgrade, then choose the ROM zip file (you just transferred) and then tap on Immediately upgrade > system upgrade to 100%.

4. Finally, select Reboot system now. Your phone will reboot into Android 9 Pie.

#For Devices Running Android P Developer Preview

1. Download the latest ROM upgrade package from here and transfer it to your OnePlus 6 storage.

2. Open Settings app on your phone, then tap on System updates, and then tap on the top right corner icon.

3. In the menu, tap on local upgrade > select ROM zip file > immediately upgrade > system upgrade to 100%.

4. Press the power button and choose to shut down.

5. Select Reboot system now.

6. Press the power button + volume down to enter recovery mode.

7. Select Wipe data/factory reset, click power, select yes, confirm.

8. Select Reboot system now.

Your phone will boot into Android 9 Pie. Keep in mind that this upgrade will wipe all contents of the phone, so please make sure to back up before installing the update.
