Asus ZenFone 4 Max ZC520KL starts getting a new software update, which will optimize recording sound quality on the handset. The update carries the build number 15.2016.1811.502 and includes latest Google security patch update. Since the OTA (over the air) update roll out is incremental, it will take some time to reach the update on all devices.

Recently, ZenFone 4 Max ZC520KL and ZC554KL variants have been updated to company’s latest ZenUI 5. The update was based on Android 8.1 Oreo and brought several new features and enhancements to the device. If you haven’t updated yet, check this guide for download and installation instructions.

If you haven’t received the new OTA update for the build number 15.2016.1811.502, check it manually by going to Settings -> About – > System Update. Alternatively, you can download the full update file (1.83 GB) and install manually.

Now that that Android 9 Pie is officially released, but the Pie update for Asus ZenFone 4 Max is unknown. Most probably, both variants (ZC520KL and ZC554KL) won’t get the latest Pie update. While, Asus Zenfone 4 Pro is eligible for Android 9 Pie update.

Other Android Pie confirmed list of Asus ZenFone devices are ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5Z, ZenFone 5 Lite, ZenFone Max (M1), ZenFone Max Pro (M1) and the recently launched ROG Phone.

How to Install Latest Update Manually on ZenFone 4 Max

1. Download latest firmware update zip file for ZenFone 4 Max ZC520KL from here.

2. Double click the downloaded firmware zip file to see another zip file it. If another zip file found inside it, unzip the downloaded firmware zip file

3. Connect the phone to your PC, move the update zip file to the root directory of your phone’s internal storage and then disconnect the phone from PC.

4. You will see firmware update notification popped up on status bar. Select it and follow steps to update firmware. After completing the installation, your phone will reboot into the new version. [Source]
