Finally the launch date of MIUI 9 is officially confirmed. The much expected MIUI 9 is set to release on July 26 along with the new handset Mi 5X. Xiaomi previously hinted that MIUI 9 would arrive before 16 August 2017, but the new report confirms that MIUI 9 will arrive earlier than that. However, please note that typically, Xiaomi releases its major MIUI OS update in August.

MIUI 9 is Android Nougat based, heavily customized Android operating system for Xiaomi’s Mi/Redmi devices (It will be available for other devices too). Rumors suggest that MIUI 9 will be a lighter and simpler ROM. It will also include various new usability features and functions to enhance user’s experience.

– Added Split-Screen feature
– Dock Bar
– Added 3 New Themes besides the default theme.
– Removed rarely used features
– It will also offer stability, smoothness, and better battery backup

If you are excited, official MIUI 9 wallpapers are now available for download. The screen resolution of the wallpaper is 1080 x 1920 pixels. If you are interested you can download it from here.

Note that a limited amount of devices will receive MIUI 9 in the first batch followed by others. Xiaomi did not announce any device list yet. However, it seems that most of the Xiaomi phones launched recently will definitely get the MIUI 9 update.

However, it does not mean that every recently launched Mi/Redmi device will get the MIUI 9 update. Low end devices like Redmi 4A may not get the update, but we are uncertain about it. (Source – 1, 2)
