While everyone is waiting for MIUI 9 (it should not be happen before summer), the MIUI team just released MIUI 8 Global Beta 7.3.23 ROM and China developer ROM with new icons, support for exFAT file system and privacy notification feature. The MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM 7.3.23 supports a range of Mi and Redmi devices, including Mi 5, Mi4i, Mi 3 / Mi 4, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 2, Mi Max, etc.

The MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM 7.3.23 is a general bug fixing update, so there is not much new stuff in this update. The update comes with new icon schemes in the home screen. The third party apps icons are now updated with cleaner looks and uniformity. The use of white background for icons gives a more pleasant look on the home screen.

Another important change in this update is exFAT file system support. Xiaomi smartphone can now recognize SD card formatted in exFAT file system. Other important changes are in MIUI Forum app and home screen. You can read full changelog of MIUI 8 Global Beta 7.3.23 update at here.

Installation: If your Mi/Redmi phone is in the update list, head over to ‘Updater’ app on your phone and check for new updates. If you prefer manual installation, then read on to know how it is.

How to Install MIUI 8 Global Beta 7.3.23 ROM Manually

Recovery Method:

1. If your device is on stock recovery and stock ROM, you can download the Recovery image for your device from here and flash manually via Updater app.

2. Follow this instruction to flash the recovery ROM manually on your Mi/Redmi phone.

Fastboot Method:

1. If your device’s bootloader is unlocked or rooted, you can flash the latest update via fastboot.

2. Download the fastboot ROM for your device from here and follow this installation instruction.

Note that fastboot method is a complicated process and would require working knowledge of fastboot and CMD commands. (Source – MIUI)
