The biggest update to Windows 11, version 24H2, is currently under beta testing, and the two significant features of this update are a standalone Microsoft Copilot app and the Recall function. While the “Recall” requires special hardware, the Copilot app will be available to all PCs. The good news is that a new Copilot app is already available on Microsoft Store for download.
Microsoft has released a new Copilot app on the Microsoft Store, which you can download on your Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs and run directly from your desktop or taskbar. However, it is essentially a PWA (Progressive Web App) for Copilot and requires Microsoft Edge browser to be installed on your Windows device.

The standalone Copilot app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for Windows 11 from here (link). Since it is a PWA app, it will also support Windows 10.
As said, it is a web-based application that functions like a regular app, allowing you to put anywhere on your desktop, start menu and taskbar. It boasts an improved user interface, featuring a distinct section for conversations with Copilot, along with a sidebar that organizes the various topics you’ve discussed. Additionally, the sidebar provides access to plugins and the Copilot Notebook.
Microsoft is gearing up to introduce a substantial update for Windows 11, version 24H2, which is expected to be released in September or October of 2024. One of the main highlights of the Windows 11 24H2 update is the Copilot App, enabling user engagement with an AI model powered by the most recent GPT-4 technology from OpenAI.
