Asus has released January Google security update for Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. Along with the latest security patch, the new WW-15.2016.1901.339 update fixes bugs related with Garmin smartwatches pairing and includes system stability optimizations. The OTA update is live now. You can download January security patch for Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 ZB601KL variant (X00TD), if you prefer manual installation.
The ZenFone Max Pro M1 WW-15.2016.1901.339 update is still based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but the good news is that Asus has already confirmed latest Android 9 Pie update for ZenFone Max Pro M1 (X00TD), which is expected in February. Currently, Asus ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Z have updated to Android 9 Pie.

The new update (WW-15.2016.1901.339) starts rolling out via OTA (over-the-air). If you have not received the update notification on ZenFone Max Pro M1, check it manually by going to Settings -> About – > System Update.
How to Install Firmware update manually on Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1
The OTA update will take a week or more to get on all devices, so if you cannot wait for the OTA, download the full update file (1.6 GB) from Asus website and install manually.
Download WW-15.2016.1901.339 firmware file for Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 [HERE] or directly from here. Check your device’s SKU version before downloading. Please update the same SKU version only.
