Xiaomi has already updated Mi A1 and Mi 6 to Android 8.0 Oreo and a few devices have Oreo in the form of beta. If you own a Xiaomi Mi or Redmi phone, then you might want to know when my phone gets the Android Oreo based MIUI 9 update. Here is a confirmed list of Xiaomi Mi and Redmi phones getting Android 8.0 Oreo update.

By all means there is no chance to get Android Oreo (MIUI 9) update for Xiaomi Mi and Redmi phones launched in 2015 and 2016, but it is expected that Mi 5 will update to Oreo. However, most phones launched in 2017 and 2018 will get the Android Oreo (8.0/8.1) update. Below is a list Xiaomi Mi/Redmi phones expected to receive Android Oreo update in the coming months.

Before jump into the list, let us see what is new in Android Oreo based MIUI 9. The update will bring various new features, quick boot, faster performance and enhanced security to the device.

Users can experience new Notifications system, Picture-in-Picture mode, new Emojis, Adaptive Icons, Project Treble (brings quick system updates, not all devices will have this feature), improved Web View API, multiple display support, improved Doze Mode for better battery life and more.

For your information, Google has already released the Android 9.0 P Preview for the Pixel series devices, and the stable build will be released by August or September 2018. However, it will take several months to get the Android 9.0 update on a Xiaomi phone.
