Asus ZenFone 5Z has received a new software update (build 80.30.96.221) with bug fixes and improvements. The update fixes the issue of hiding Notch when playing YouTube video and fixes Widget shortcut icon too small problem. Last month Asus rolled out an update for Zenfone 5Z (build 80.30.96.111) with Selfie Panorama mode and other improvements. This new update further enhances the device.

Apart from the hiding Notch fix for YouTube video and widget shortcut icon too small issue, the new ZenFone 5Z 80.30.96.221 update will improve the detection frequency of AI Scene. With AI Scene, ZenFone 5 intelligently analyzes the scene and optimizes the camera setting for a perfect shot. This new update will further enhance your shooting.

New update for Asus-Zenfone-5Z fixes YouTube notch hiding issue

The ZS620KL_ WW_80.30.96.221 OTA (over the air) update is starts rolling out and as usual, the firmware update rollout is incremental, so it will take few hours or even few days/or weeks to reach on all devices. If you have not received the OTA notification for the update, check it manually by going to Settings > System > System updates to check for the update.

Experienced users can install the update manually. ASUS has made available full firmware for download, if you cannot install the OTA or if you are out of Wi-Fi coverage area.

How to download & install software update manually on ZanFone 5Z

1. Suggest to backup data before starting the software update.

2. You can download latest full firmware for ZenFone 5Z ZS620KL variant from this link. Check your SKU version before downloading the firmware.

3. Double click the downloaded firmware zip file to see another zip file it. If another zip file found inside it, unzip the downloaded firmware zip file

4. Connect your phone to your PC, move the update zip file to the root directory of your phone’s internal storage and then disconnect from PC.

5. You will see firmware update notification popped up on status bar. Select it and follow steps to update firmware.
