Google has released first developer preview of Android P, the next major iteration of Android OS with several changes and new features. Android P developer preview build is now available for Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The update will not be available on Google Pixel C, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P.

Android P developer preview factory images are now available for download which you can try on Google Pixel/XL and Pixel 2/XL (download links below). The build is intended for app developers to test out new features and it is expected that the consumer build will roll out in Q3 of this year.

Android P DP 1 released for pixel device

The Android P developer preview 1 (upcoming Android 9.0?) is comes with several visual changes and new features. The first noticeable change is updated Pixel Launcher with shaded dock and voice search icon. You can also see new quick settings UI, enhanced notification style for messages, new transitions and more.

The build also includes new features like screenshot button in power menu, simplified Do Not Disturb function, text selection zoom, auto-turn off Hotspot if no devices are connected, landscape mode, no orange warning bar when battery go below the set limit and many more.

Download Android P Developer Preview 1: Note that, the Android P DP 1 is strictly for app developers only. Consumers need to wait for the release through the Android beta program. However, factory images for Android P are now available for download, which you can flash manually on supported devices.
