Since the release of Android 9 Pie stable version, developer communities are busy porting the build for many old and new devices. A ported version of Android 9.0 Pie (Pixel Experience ROM v9.0) is now available for Huawei P8 Lite 2017 edition. This custom ROM will bring Google Pixel and Android 9.0 features to the device. Android 9 Pie update schedule for Huawei and Honor phone is not yet announced by the company. In addition, there is little chance to get the update on P8 Lite (2017). However, Pixel Experience custom ROM brings Android 9.0 (Pie) right now with all the goodies of Google’s latest OS.

Huawei-P8-Lite

Developed by the XDA senior member Askuccio_DROID, the Pixel Experience ROM for Huawei P8 Lite (2017) is beta, but everything is working fine like Wi-fi, RIL, Mobile data, Sensors, Bluetooth, etc. The only known bugs are Wi-Fi Hotspot and Camera aren’t working.

To install this ROM, your device should be on EMUI 8 or later. As you all know, unlocked bootloader and TWRP recovery is necessary for installing this build.

How to Install Android 9.0 Pie AOSP Port on P8 Lite

1. Download the ROM zip file (latest build) and GApps zip file from development page.

2. Transfer both the files to your phone’s internal storage.

3. Boot into TWRP and create a backup of system, vendor, boot, and data.

4. In TWRP, select Wipe and wipe data and system.

5. Now, select Install in TWRP and flash ROM. If you need, flash GApps as well.

6. Finally, reboot the phone.
