Like Xiaomi’s flagship phones, such as the Xiaomi Mi 8 and the new Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro, the POCO F1 is also features IR Face Unlock. Infrared (IR) face unlock help users unlock their phone even in darkness. You can use the built-in IR camera on the POCOPHONE to capture photos in the darkness with a simple trick.

The POCO F1 features a dedicated IR camera for quick and accurate Face Unlock in the night, instead of the IR LED and front camera setup of the phone. There is a hidden setting in POCO F1, which allows you to access the Infrared camera. The below guide lets you know how to access the IR camera on POCO F1 and take photos in the night using it.

This guide requires MIUI Hidden Settings app installed on your phone. This app lets you access many hidden settings of your Xiaomi phone (See this guide for details). For example, you can use the menu item 29 to access IR camera on the POCO F1.

MIUI-Hidden-Settings-app

– First, install the MIUI Hidden Settings app on your phone from Play store. Launch the app and choose the MIUI version.

– Scroll down and select the menu item 29, which will bring up the infrared camera. Tap on the capture option to take photos.

– You cannot save the photo directly, so save the photo as screenshot and crop the unwanted area. That’s it.

Note that, the resolution of the photos might be very low (640 x 480 pixels). See the video for information in detail.

Note: If you want to save the photos automatically, you need to activate the Hardware Test on POCO F1. Go to system information > tap the kernel version four times. Head into Hardware Test, scroll to 52 and then choose IR Camera Test. It will save the photo automatically, of course at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. (Source – Reddit)
