Sometimes people fail to recall their iPhone’s passcode. Though you can use Touch ID or Face ID to unlock the iPhone, you will not be able to do certain tasks like restarting the phone, updating the software, etc., without the passcode. The classic method to reset a locked iPhone is using the Finder app or iTunes. Both require a computer (Mac or PC) to do the task. Now, Apple makes it very simple with the latest iOS 15.2 updates. You will now be able to reset your locked iPhone without a PC. Here is how to perform it.

Requirements to Reset Passcode on iPhone/iPad Without iTunes/Finder app

1. Your iPhone and iPad should be running on iOS 15.2 or later and iPadOS 15.2 or later.

2. You should have your Apple ID and password with you. Thirdly, your device has Wi-Fi or mobile network access.

3. Finally and importantly, this method will erase all data you have on the device.

How to Reset iPhone/iPad without a Computer/iTunes/Finder app?

1. Power on your iPhone/iPad and enter any wrong passcode multiple times until you see the Try Again Later option on your device.

2. Once you see the try again later option, enter the wrong passcode until you see the Erase iPhone option at the bottom right of the screen.

3. Once you see the Erase iPhone option on your device, tap on it and then again to confirm.

4. Now, enter your Apple ID password to sign out of your Apple ID on your device.

5. Next, select the Erase iPhone option, and it will reset your iPhone/iPad to factory state.

6. Once the process completes, your iPhone/iPad will restart, and you will be able to set it up.

Erase iPhone without PC

The new reset feature of iOS 5.2/iPadOS 15.2 is necessary if you do not have a Mac or PC in hand. Also, the new method is simple compared to the Finder app or iTunes method.


The above given method erase all data from your iPhone/iPad (due to security reasons). But it might be the easiest way to reset forgotten passcode on your device without using the Finder or Itunes app.
