Earlier this month, Huawei started Android 8.0 Oreo based EMUI 8.0 Beta testing for Honor 7X in several regions. The company has also confirmed that the Honor 7X will update to stable EMUI 8.0 Oreo in second quarter of 2018. If you have not joined for the beta program, but want to try latest EMUI 8.0 beta on your 7X, then here is how it is.

You can manually install EMUI 8.0 Oreo Beta on Honor 7X BND-L21 European variant with leaked firmware. Thanks to the XDA member IceToast, to install the leaked beta build on Honor 7X’s require unlocked bootloader (you may follow this guide), TWRP recovery, factory images and knowledge on ADB commands.

Install EMUI 8.0 Beta on Honor 7X

Huawei’s latest Emotion UI 8.0 comes with several new features and optimizations. The AI-based optimizations bring greater stability, fluidity and speed to the device. The update will bring simple UI, new camera feature, multi Bluetooth connectivity, smarter floating Navigation dock, better security and more.

Comes to the installation guide, inexperienced owners of Honor 7X are recommend waiting for the stable roll out of the OS. The stable build may roll out in April or May.

To install EMUI 8.0 Oreo Beta on Honor 7X, following files has needed to be downloaded: TWRP recovery, update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip, update_full_BND-L21C_hw_eu.zip, and BND-RECOVERY-NoCheck.img. Download all mentioned files from this link and follow below installation instruction.

Installation Instruction

1. Save the downloaded TWRP image file where ADB is installed, connect your phone to your PC in fastboot mode and execute the command: fastboot flash recovery twrp_openkirin_sudeep.img. After rebooting, then proceed with below steps.

2. Save the downloaded update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip, update_full_BND-L21C_hw_eu.zip, and BND-RECOVERY-NoCheck.img files on your phone’s SD card.

3. Boot into TWRP, go to Advanced and select Terminal. Type below commands:

dd if=/external_sd/BND-RECOVERY-NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery
dd if=/external_sd/BND-RECOVERY-NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery2

4. If above commands went well, then execute below commands one by one. Every letter, arrow and sign are important. Do not skip anything.

echo --update_package=/sdcard/update.zip > /cache/recovery/command
echo --update_package=/sdcard/update_data_full_public.zip >> /cache/recovery/command
echo --update_package=/sdcard/update_full_BND-L21C_hw_eu.zip >> /cache/recovery/command

5. Finally, execute the command reboot recovery. It will try to install the beta update on Honor 7X.

After completing the installation, press Volume Up + Volume Down + Power buttons to reboot to stock recovery. Do a factory reset with Stock Recovery and then reboot to system. (Source – XDA)
