Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users in India who are waiting for the official Android 8.0 Oreo (Experience 9.0) update, there is good news for them. Samsung has started to roll out the Oreo OTA (over the air) for Galaxy S7 (G930FD) and S7 Edge (G935FD) in India. If you are unable to install the update via OTA (over the air) for some reason, here is how to download and install the update manually.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge comes with Experience UI 9.0 alongside enhanced usability, latest security patch (patch level April 2018) various new features like revamped notification shade, autofill script, better battery life and Picture in Picture mode. The update also includes performance boost and general bug fixes.

Samsung has already rolled out Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Oreo update in many regions. In India, the update just starts and has version number G930FXXU2EREM/G930FODD2ERE2. If you have not received the OTA notification for the Oreo update, check it manually by heading over to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.

Now, comes to the manual installation procedure, the Android 8.0 Oreo update files given below are only for Indian Galaxy S7 SM- G930FD and S7 Edge SM- G935FD. Do not try it on other variants.

Requirements:

a) Your S7/S7edge should be on stock firmware and stock recovery (not TWRP)
b) The below given method is for Indian Galaxy S7/S7 edge only (Do not try on other variant)
c) Samsung USB drivers installed on your Windows PC
d) Back up any data you have on the phone before proceeding with below steps
e) Full battery charge (at least 80%) on the phone

Manually Update Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge to Experience UI 9 (Oreo 8.0)

1. Download Oreo 8.0-firmware file for Indian Galaxy S7 (SM-G930FD) [HERE] and Indian Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935FD) [HERE] to your computer.

2. Download latest version of Odin (v3.13.) from here

3. After downloading the required file, follow this installation instruction
