Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is a two months old device, but the device already has custom ROM and custom recovery support. A fully working port of LineageOS 15.1 based Android 8.1 Oreo is now available for Redmi Note 5 pro. Recently TeamWin has released TWRP recovery for the device, which means custom ROM fans can easily flash LineageOS 15.1 on their device.
Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9.2 ROM and in due course, the device will updated to Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 9.5 ROM. For your information, Redmi Note 5 Pro global variant already has the Android 8.1 Oreo update as MIUI 9 Global Nightly build (8.3.26).

– Download unofficial LineageOS 15.1 ROM zip file from source (code-named Whyred).
– Download Open Gapps zip files (8.1, arm64).
– Save both zip files on your phone
– Boot Redmi Note 5 Pro to TWRP (use Power + Volume Up keys, after switching off the phone)
– Tap ‘Backup’ and create full system backup
– Tap ‘Wipe’ > Advanced wipe > and wipe cache, data, dalvik and system.
– Tap ‘Install’, navigate and select LineageOS ROM zip file to flash it. After completing the installation, install Gapps zip file.
– Finally, reboot your device (tap Reboot > System). After booting your device into LineageOS, setup and enjoy. (Source – XDA)
