After being released LineageOS 15.1 nightly build for the first batch of devices, the Lineage OS team now starting to release the official build for the second batch of devices, which include OnePlus 2. If you own an OnePlus 2 and want to taste Google’s chocolate-milk cookie-flavored OS (Android 8.1 Oreo) on it, then you can download and install LineageOS 15.1 right now.
Besides Android 8.1 Oreo native features, LineageOs 15.1 bring several value added features and latest security patch to your handset. Custom accent color for light or dark theme, LiveDisplay, Automagic, revamped Trebuchet Launcher with adaptive icon support, Snap camera with QR support, etc. are some of the new features of the build.
If you would like to install official LineageOs 15.1 on OnePlus 2, first you need to unlock your device’s bootloader and then flash latest version of TWRP custom recovery on it.
Do remember that present status of LineageOs 15.1 is nightly, which means the ROM is not fully stable. You may experience unknown bugs. However, previous experience shows that the nightly builds are usually reliable, if you are ready to face few issues.
Installation Instruction:
1. Download the LineageOS 15.1 from here (download latest build) for your OnePlus 2
2. Download Open Gapps from here (download arm 64/ Android 8.1)
3. Transfer both ROM and Gapps zip files to the phone storage.
4. Reboot your OnePlus 2 into TWRP recovery.
5. Tap on ‘Backup’ and create a backup (recommended).
6. Tap on Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select data, system, cache, dalvik and swipe to wipe.
7. Tap Install, navigate and select LineageOS 15.1 zip file and swipe to flash. Once done, flash gapps.zip file.
8. Finally, tap Reboot > System to reboot your phone to your new LineageOS
