Redmi Note 5 Pro is a very affordable and feature packed handset. Launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 9.2 ROM, the device will update to Android 8.1 Oreo in the future. Redmi Note 5 Pro now gets custom ROM support in the form of LineageOS 14.1. The unofficial LineageOS 14.1 build is a fully working port and bring Android 7.1.1 Nougat and stock UI to the device.

Xiaomi recently updated the Redmi Note 5 Pro with Face Unlock feature (MIUI 9 V9.2.5.0.NEIMIEK). It is expected that the company will soon upgrade the device to Android 8.1 Oreo. The Chinese variant Redmi Note 5 pro already has the Android 8.1 Oreo based MIUI 9.5.4 ROM that bring Project Treble compatibility.

Coming to the Redmi Note 5 Pro Lineage OS 14.1 custom ROM. Thanks to the XDA member vasishath, the status of the ROM is beta, but almost all areas of the system (VoLTE, Calls, SMS, Data, Fingerprint Scanner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera, Camcorder, Video Playback, audio, sensors, Flash, LED, GPS, etc.) are working fine.

How to Get Android 8.1 Oreo (MIUI 9.5) on Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro

Custom ROM fans can try the ROM right now, but requires unlocked bootloader and latest version of TWRP recovery installed on the phone. Interested users can download the ROM from this link and try it on their Redmi Note 5 Pro (code-named Whyred).

Note that, as the ROM does not include Gapps (Google apps and services), users need to flash open Gapps after flashing the ROM to get Play store and other Google features. (Source – XDA)
