The release of Android 9 Pie stable version for the Nokia 7 Plus is expected in this month September. In the mean time, Nokia released a new Android P Developer Preview update for Nokia 7 Plus that bump the build number to version 3.190. This is the fifth and probably the last Android 9 Pie beta builds for the device and includes September security patch and several other improvements.

Android 9 Pie Beta 5 is only available for Nokia 7 Plus global variants, such as TA-1046, TA-1055 and TA-1062. If you have signed up for Android beta program, you will get the Beta 5 (v3.190) OTA update. To join beta, go here and sign up in with your Google, Facebook or Nokia account and you will get the OTA update.

If you wish to download and install the new Android 9 beta update manually on your Nokia 7 Plus, you may follow below guide. Note that the update will wipe your userdata, so create back up of all important files and data before proceeding with the installation.

How to Install Android 9 Pie Beta on Nokia 7 Plus

1. Go to Nokia website here and signup for Android P beta testings.

2. After registration, click Install manually, and at the bottom of the page accept terms & condition, and then click ‘Download’ to download the firmware zip file.

3. Save the downloaded zip file where ADB is installed on your PC.

4. On Nokia 7 Plus, ‘Enable USB Debugging’ by going to Developer Options’ menu (to enable Developer Options menu, head over to Settings > About phone > and tap on Build number several time).

5. Switch off the phone, press and hold Power + Volume Up buttons few second to boot into bootloader mode.

6. Select the Recovery option from the bootloader menu. Hold the Power button and press Volume Up once to enter into Recovery Mode.

7. Run the command ‘adb devices’ and confirm your device is listed.

8. Run the command ‘adb sideload File Name.zip’

(Replace ‘File Name’ with the name of the downloaded zip file)

9. Once the update has finished, reboot the phone by selecting ‘Reboot system now’

The first boot will take around 10 minutes to complete. Set up your new OS and enjoy the new features on your Nokia 7 Plus.
