The latest MIUI 10 update changes notch style on Xiaomi Mi 9 to water drop. Xiaomi advertised a dot drop notch for Mi 9, but on the actual device, it looks like a circular notch. Xiaomi fixed this through a software update. The new MIUI ROM adds water drop notch to Mi 9. This is the first firmware update for Mi 9 that adds a new overlay to handle the notch section on the device.

The smartphone industry is now wrestles with notches, pinhole cameras and full-screen displays. The water-drop style notch looks more attractive than the rectangular and semi-circular notch. Xiaomi’s latest flagship for the year 2019, the Mi 9 was launched in China with Android 9 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. The first firmware update for the device, MIUI China Stable ROM brings new changes and added features to Mi 9. Besides the water-drop fix, the update optimizes low-latency ear return and camera quality. The update adds AI camera moon mode and shoot-on-motion feature while recording video.

MIUI China Stable ROM is now available for download. The full recovery file weighs around 2.4GB in size. This is the China stable ROM, which means it does not include Google Play store, though supports English language.
