Good news for owners of Redmi 5 Plus (it is known as Redmi Note 5 in India). Finally, Xiaomi starts rolling out the stable Android 8.1 Oreo update for the device as MIUI V9.6.5.0.OEGMIFD. The device (code named vince) was released with Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box and this new Oreo update will enhance user experience on the device.

Along with Android 8.1 Oreo features, general bug fixes and optimizations, the MIUI V9.6.5.0.OEGMIFD update will also fix the Wi-Fi battery drain issue, camera stops working issue, translation issue with Bulgarian language and more on the Redmi 5 Plus/Redmi Note 5.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is a very affordable, good-looking handset and powers by Snapdragon 625 processor. The phone features 5.5-inch IPS display (1080 x 2160 pixels), 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB internal storage, 12MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, and a 4000 mAh battery. The device was runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9.5.

Comes to the Android 8.1 Oreo update, the MIUI V9.6.5.0.OEGMIFD starts rolling out via OTA (over the air) and will reach on all devices shortly. If you have not received the update notification, check it by heading to Settings — About Phone –> Software Update and see if you have any new update on your phone.

2. There are three methods to install software update on Redmi 5 Plus/Note 5. The first two methods (Updater app and stock Recovery methods) are very simple, but your device should be on the latest stable version of MIUI ROM.

The third and last Fastboot method is bit complicated and required unlocked bootloader. However, the ROM version you are on is not important.
