Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) start getting official Android 8.0 Oreo update in certain markets. The update comes with plenty of changes and April 2018 Android security patches, and apparently will bring Samsung Experience version 9.0 to the device. Currently, the update is available on Galaxy A5 SM-A520F variant sold in Russia. The update file weighs around 1.2 GB and has version number A520FXXU4CRD5/A520FOXE4CRD3.

Galaxy A5 SM-A520F owners, who have not received the OTA notification for the Oreo update on the device, check it manually by heading over to Settings > About Phone > Software Update. You can also download and install the firmware manually via Odin.

There is no news about Oreo update for its brother Galaxy A7 (2017), but it is expected that the device will get Google’s chocolate-milk cookie-flavored OS update by next month, May. See official list of Samsung Galaxy Phones gets Oreo update and their ETA.

For some reason, you want to install the Oreo update manually on your Galaxy A5 (2017). To install the Oreo update, you need full firmware file, latest Odin tool (3.13.1) that supports Samsung’s new LZ4 lossless compression method and some technical knowhow.
