iPhone Explorer is a free utility that lets you access your iPhone and iPod touch’s root partition. You can import/export pictures, music, videos, ringtones, and messages from your phone.

An advantage of this utility is that you can transfer media files to your iPhone or take back it to your computer without the need of iTunes. This will prevent iTunes sync issues like losing entire music library on some iPhones/iPod.

Moreover, with in-built ringtone maker, you can create custom ringtone from audio files from your PC or from the iPhone’s audio library.

Note for jailbroken devices: If you’re running firmware 3.1.2 and used blackra1n to jailbreak your device, you need to install the afc2add service from Cydia to use this software.

Supported iTunes and iPhone versions are: iTunes 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch. More information and download at source.
