Device Assist is a new app by Google, and as it name indicates it is designed to assist Android smartphone users, especially novice users, to get best performance from their device. The appĀ provides tips (often trivial) on how to save battery, helps you solve GPS and connectivity related issues and explore new features of your device along with an option to get assist from Google.

Device Assist app can be useful for novice Android users. The app does not help you fix all your hardware and software related issues. It detects only few common issues, for instance, it tells that you are charging via a low power USB cable (consider a wall charger), screen brightness settings is battery intensive (lower the brightness) and like that.

Device Assist has also an option for sending your device information to Google for getting relevant solution to fix any issues, but if your device is a Nexus or Google Play Edition.

Features of Device Assist

– Get proactive help with detected issues (GPS, connectivity, battery, etc.)
– Get tips to explore new features and improve the performance of your device
– For Nexus and Google Play edition devices, gain easy access to live Google support

Unfortunately, at the moment, the app is available only in the US and supports only Nexus, Google Play edition and Android One devices running Android 5.0, Lollipop. Google Device Assist can be downloaded from Play Store.
