How Smart App Control Works on Windows 11?

Smart App Control utilizes advanced machine learning and cloud-based intelligence to evaluate applications before they are installed or run on your device. It measures the trustworthiness of apps based on various factors, including their reputation and behavior, helping to prevent the execution of harmful software.

It works with Microsoft Defender to enhance the security of your Windows 11 computer, protecting it from malware, adware, and various types of potentially unwanted programs that could compromise your system’s security and performance.

How to Enable Smart App Control in Windows 11

1. Open the Settings app on your Windows 11 device.

2. Navigate to Privacy & Security and click on Windows Security.

5. You will see On, Evaluation, and Off options. Select, On or Evaluation option as per your requirements.

If you choose the “On” option, it will block malicious and untrusted apps when it detects them. The “Evaluation” option won’t block anything, but will decide whether you’re a ‘good candidate’ for the feature. Once you qualify, it will automatically switch on SAC, otherwise it will be turned off.

If you choose the “Off “option, Smart App Control will disable permanently. You’ll need to reinstall Windows 11 to activate the feature again. So, Microsoft do not recommend to turn off this feature. Similarly, if your choose “On”, you cannot go back to “Evaluation” mode.

Protection Against Malware and Unwanted Programs

Smart App Control (SAC) enhances your computer’s security by blocking untrusted applications that may contain malware or other potentially unwanted programs. It use AI to protect your PC from installing untrusted app. By evaluating apps before they can run, it helps ensure that only safe and verified software is allowed on your system, reducing the risk of infections and maintaining overall system integrity.
