Huawei has updated Honor 8 Pro with Face Unlock and April 2018 security patches. The Asian variant Honor 8 Pro starts getting new software update (DUK-L09 8.0.0.363(C636) that enables Face Unlock on the phone. In addition, the update will improve the system security with April 2018 Android security patch and protect user’s privacy with smart lock screen notifications.
After updating Honor 8 Pro to software version DUK-L09 8.0.0.363(C636), users can enable Face Unlock by going to Settings > Security & privacy > Face Unlock. Another security feature that this update brings to Honor 8 Pro is ‘Smart lock screen notifications’. This feature protects user’s privacy by preventing others from reading lock screen messages.
You can enable ‘Smart lock screen notifications’ by going to Settings > Security & privacy > Face Unlock > Smart lock screen notifications.
Owners of Honor 8 Pro will get the new 8.0.0.363 Oreo OTA updates in the coming days. If you haven’t received the OTA notification, check for OTA update by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.
If you are unable to install the update through OTA, you can download and flash the firmware manually on your device, but it requires some technical skill. We recommend downloading Huawei’s HiCare app from Play store that lets you install the new update on your device without any trouble.
If you prefer manual installation, then you can download the stock firmware (8.0.0.363) from here and flash manually by using ‘dload’ method. You may follow this guide to know how to flash firmware manually on Honor 8 Pro.
