Google Fit is a new app by Google that will turn your Android smartphone into a fully functional fitness tracker. As well as offering users a way of tracking their walking, running and cycling activity, you can sync Fit with other devices and apps too, so you will get all your fitness data in one place. Fit works on all Android Wear devices too.

You can set your own goals on Google Fit. Your goals can set for steps or duration you have taken and your progress can be seen throughout the day. The app also gives you recommendations about different things based on your activity. However, it does not have an option to mark out the distance you have covered for future reference.

The interface of Google Fit is incredibly simple and everything you could possibly need to monitor is included, however there are some obvious downsides too. For instance, you must carry your device with you at all times for the tracking to work and it will have a negative effect on battery performance, but as the main benefit will be your health, it is not an issue.

Google Fit is a free app and though it misses some features that similar apps offers, it is by far the best choice for people who want to turn their smartphone into a FREE fitness tracker.

You can download Google Fit free from Play Store
