Xiaomi introduces Split Screen mode for Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm variant. Until recently, this feature was available on devices runs Android Nougat based MIUI 9 skin. With a recent MIUI 9 beta update Xiaomi brought Split Screen mode to Marshmallow devices too, which includes Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm variant, Mi 4, Redmi Pro, etc.
Split Screen feature is not a new development. It has been a feature of Samsung and LG phones for years and Google refined the feature in Android Nougat. It enables users to run two apps side by side on a single screen and will work both in landscape and portrait mode. Redmi Note 3 owners can now enjoy this feature by installing the latest MIUI 9 beta build. If you do not know how to use Split Screen to run two apps on your device, here is how it is.
To get Split Screen mode, tap on menu button (navigation key), which will display recent apps. Tap on ‘Split Screen Mode’ on the top, select any app from the recent app list and drag it to the upper portion of the screen. Tap any other app from the recent app list for your second app.
To exit the Split Screen mode, tap on the menu button and choose ‘exit split screen mode’.
Obviously not all apps will support Split Screen mode. App developers need to make their applications compatible with these two features. However, it is assumed that most MIUI system apps will support this feature.
By enabling Force Resize in Developer Options, you can fix incompatibility with some third-party apps in Split Screen mode. To do so, go to Settings > Additional Settings > Developers Option > enable Force Resize. Once done, restart your phone. (Source – MIUI)
