Xiaomi introduces “anti-rollback” mechanism to Redmi Note 5 Pro in order to maintain stability and ensure security of the handset. This feature will be active starting with MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 update. If you have updated to your Redmi Note 5 (Pro) to this build, do not try downgrade to previous stable or beta build, as it will brick your device.

The Chinese company recently released MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 for a number of devices, including to Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi MIX 2, Redmi S2, Mi 5, etc. The update features LDAC functionality for Bluetooth for better sound quality on supported devices and includes many bug fixes.

However, according to a new report, the company introduced “anti-rollback” mechanism to Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro with this build. It means, from this build (MIUI 10 Public ROM 8.7.5) onwards you cannot downgrade your device to previous stable or beta build. Doing so will brick your device or affect the stability, so take care.

If you have not installed the MIUI 10 Public Beta ROM 8.7.5, you can downgrade your device to previous build without any problem.

As you all know, the AI based MIUI 10 comes with a slew of changes and several features. Driving mode, full-screen gestures, AI camera Portrait mode, AI Preload (reduce apps and UI functions load time), new Recents app menu, Mi Smart Home integration, some Android 9.0 goodies are some of the best features of this release.
