The Android TV Data Saver app by Google, which is available on the Google Play Store, helps you stream media content up to 3 times more. It works similarly to Google Chrome’s Lite Mode and uses less data while streaming videos, music, and games.

You can download and install the Android TV Data Saver app from the Android TV Play store (link). Alternatively, download its APK (link) and sideload it on your supported TV.

  1. The Android TV Data Saver app requires Android TV version 8.0 and up. So, first install any available update on your TV. Then download (link above) and install the Data Saver app.
  2. After installing the app, turn on the data saver by going to TV Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Data Saver.
  3. If you enable the data usage alert option, you will get a data usage notification on the TV screen.
