Hotmail users can now get desktop notification on their unread email messages. If you are a Windows 7 user with Internet Explorer 9 installed, you will get alert on your unread messages and can access your Hotmail account from the desktop just with a click without first having to open the browser.
To works this, users need to pin Hotmail to the Windows 7 taskbar. To do so, after signing in Hotmail or Live mail, just click the Hotmail icon in the IE9 Address bar and drag it to the taskbar.
Moreover, the Jumplist feature in Windows 7 (see screenshot above) lets you get straight to your inbox, calendar, and contacts, or you can start writing a new email, all in just a click. (Via)
