BetDefender has released a new security tool called TrafficLight (beta), which is a cross browser add-on that protect your PC from malware and keep unwanted web elements at a bay. It is not just a reputation tool like WOT (web of trust), it is a combination of security tools such as Fishing filter, Ad blocker, Malware filter and Search result analyzer.
TrafficLight is compatible with almost all Windows browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc) and lightweight. After installation, it requires no configuration. It scans the pages you visit for malware and phishing attempts every time you access them to avoid the threat of legitimate but recently compromised websites.
The included Ad Blocker removes those unwanted advertisement from the webpage you visit. The Advanced Fishing filter prevents fishing attempt coming from social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
TrafficLight relies on intelligence provided by BitDefender Cloud services to flag malware and phishing attempts in search results from Google or Bing. Not only that, but it also checks links in popular social network platforms and blocks them if they are suspect.
TrafficLight does not add a toolbar to your already-cluttered browser interface. Its interface remains invisible until your input is needed or it’s called up with a simple mouse gesture (see screenshot above).
