Sometimes you may want to share the password of a WiFi network you are using on your Android phone to your friend, but if you forgot the password, how can you view it. If your device is running on Android 10, then you can see saved WiFi password without root. Here’s how it is.
There is a new feature in Android 10 to view Wi-Fi passwords saved on your Android device, and of course, without root access. The new ‘Wi-Fi Share’ feature in Android 10 lets you view saved passwords and lets you easily share it with other phones.
- To view Wi-Fi password, open Settings > tap Network & internet > and then tap on Wi-Fi.
- Scroll down and tap on Saved networks. From the list of saved networks names, tap on a network name to view its password.
- Now, tap on ‘Share’ button. You will ask for authentication (use your phone’s password/PIN/Fingerprint)
- Now, a QR code will be displayed on the screen, which includes password and SSID for the W-Fi network.
- Scan the QR code using another phone to see the password. The Wi-Fi password will also display under the QR code.
The new WiFi Share feature of Android 10 is certainly a welcome feature for many users. For example, if you want to share the password of a WiFi network you are using on your Android phone to your friend, but forgot the password, you can use this feature.
Devices running on Android 9 or older versions, you can use apps like WiFi Password Viewer to view the password, but you need root access on the phone.
