As promised, Nokia released stable Android 10 update for Nokia 8.1 that carries September 2019 security patch and new features, such as dark mode, new gesture navigation, Smart replies, Sound Amplifier, Digital Wellbeing, etc. Stable Android 10 OTA update (build version 4.15B) hit the Nokia 8.1 unit in several regions, including on Indian variant TA-1121.
Nokia starts rolling out stable Android 10 OTA update on Nokia 8.1, which weighs around 1.5 GB in size. The incremental OTA update will take a few days to get across the globe. You can check it manually on the device by going to Settings > About phone > System updates.
To download and install the stable Android 10 OTA update on Nokia 8.1, check it in the System updates menu under About phone. In case you cannot wait for the OTA, download the full OTA zip file (download for TA-1121 variant) and flash it manually as given here.

Recently, Nokia owned HMD Global announced a stable Android 10 update road map for all Nokia phones.
The company will upgrade 17 devices to Android 10 before Q2 2020. Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 9 PureView are the first three devices to be updated to Android 10.
The firmware is for Nokia 8.1 Android One variant (code-named PNX_Sprout).
